Hot reload and renaming
Broxy watches mcp.json for changes and updates the running proxy without restart.
What hot reload does
- Adds new servers immediately.
- Applies edits to existing servers.
- Removes servers that were deleted from the file.
The inbound endpoint stays up while capabilities are re-synced.
UI edits
Changes you make in the MCP screen are applied immediately. You do not need to restart the app.
Renaming servers
Changing a server id affects tool names and presets.
When you rename a server in the desktop UI:
- Broxy updates
mcp.jsonwith the new id. - Presets are rewritten to match the new id when possible.
If you rename a server manually in mcp.json, you must update preset files yourself.
Safe update checklist
- Keep server ids stable whenever possible.
- After a rename, verify presets and run a quick tool list in your client.
